We started serving the Dark Hollow community in the summer of 2015 with our mobile feeding program. Then in the Fall of 2016 we added Saturday Adopt-A-Block continuing to reach out to the children and their families of the surrounding neighborhood. This past summer we leased the Pine Street Elementary School and offered a six week summer program to the younger children. Daily we were seeing 90-110 children. They all received breakfast and lunch as well as fun songs and activities; and most importantly the overwhelming love of Jesus.
It is our dream to see this school be used much the same as our other facilities to be the hub of change for the entire community.
We have opportunity to purchase the Pine Street Elementary School.
Originally built as the George Washington Carver Elementary School following desegregation in 1961. In 1977 the school was renamed Pine Street Elementary School.
The Pine Street property is 3.0 Acres with a 23,000sf school building on the property. Overall the property is in good condition, with a need for mostly cosmetic remodeling. Nearby are hundreds of families in need, each with multiple children.
This Fall, as soon as we get the funding, we will start by offering an after school program to the children. This will also allow us to expand our relationships with not only the children, but also the parents, and the teachers where they attend school. In addition, we will be allowing the Dark Hollow Food Pantry to share our space to provide other needed food resources to the community.
In the future we want to start a high quality preschool / day care program to the children of the community. Statistics show that it is nearly impossible for children to catch up in school if they are behind still in the 3rd grade. We want to help these children start strong and start with Jesus!
We only have until August 31 to raise the purchase price, after this we will lose the opportunity.
Would you consider a gift? Every dollar represents a soul. This is a transformational gift. This will allow the Arkansas Dream Center to become an even greater force for good in this community.
We will be honoring our DREAM BUILDERS through a Dream Builder Wall in the lobby of the new building. Should you wish to remain anonymous or make your gift in honor of someone other than yourself please let us know.
Should you need further information or wish to schedule a tour of the facility you may feel free to contact:
